Thanks for visiting Mina's fundraising page!
Mina's kidney journey began in utero, where she was closely monitored for hydronephrosis. Born at 30 weeks on 9/30/2009, Mina was immediately transferred from Sharp Mary Birch Hospital to Rady Children’s Hospital. Among many diagnoses, Mina was found to have a multicystic dysplastic left kidney (MCDK) and severe bilateral vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). Mina began receiving care under both Rady’s Urology and Nephrology departments.
Two years later, Mina’s left kidney was confirmed to have atrophied, leaving her with a single kidney. She subsequently underwent surgery to correct the VUR. Since then, she has been closely monitored by Rady Children’s Nephrology and shown normal progress in both function and growth! As she grows, she is learning the importance of maintaining proper nutrition to help keep her single kidney healthy.
In addition to being the first Aerodigestive Clinic patient at Rady Children's Hospital, Mina is a patient within the following AMAZING departments: Pulmonology, GI, Urology, Genetics, Pediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, GI, Opthalmology, Occupational Therapy, Ortho, Asthma/Allergy, ENT, Research and Cardiac! Thanks to many people at Rady Children’s Hospital, Mina continues to thrive and enjoy an active life!
