Resilient Rina PVESGoesGOLD
For the 3rd year, throughout the month of Sept, Park Village Elementary School turns GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness month with a GOLD day at their Friday 9/21 assembly (9am) to support local cancer fighting kids. Little brother "Powerful" Patrick's life-saving bone marrow transplant has allowed big sister "Resilient Rina" to celebrate 5 yrs Cancer Free from her rare leukemia, giving her a second chance in life. As 5th and 3rd grade Park Village Penguins, they stand proud in fight against childhood cancer!
#PVGoesGold school activities included a lemonade stand, GOLD Store selling swag, classroom posters, collection boxes... run by not only parent volunteers but students as well. 100% of proceeds will benefit childhood cancer research locally at Rady Children's Hospital, where Rina and Patrick, and local SD kids fighting against cancer, get treated.
To date, the school raised over $5k to benefit Rady Children's Hospital. This year, the students, some of whom may one day become doctors, nurses, scientists, and researchers are learning that they can make a difference. The have learned how some of their own classmates are thriving against cancer... and they are BEATING it!
Park Village students are making a difference TODAY by learning to become ADVOCATES themselves, knowing that KIDS are worth more than GOLD, that they deserve more than 4% of NCI federal funding for pediatric cancer research.
9/21, PVES turns the whole school GOLD at their Friday Flag assembly at 9am. (GOLD store @8:30am)
